A Brief History of Kampar
Back in the 19th century, Kampar was a prosperous tin mining township surrounded by an abundance of tin. However, the start of the 20th century marked the gradual decline in Kampar’s population until it became the quiet yet peaceful township it is today. With the collapse of the tin industry, the younger residents started migrating elsewhere in search of opportunities while the elderly who valued the serene and peaceful atmosphere stayed behind. This led to a rapidly declining population until the establishment of both the UTAR and TARUMT Kampar Campuses helped breathe some new life into the town by attracting students from all over Malaysia to this little town.
